Kristopher Hilbert is an artist, recordist, and educator based in Brooklyn, NY. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Musicology at the CUNY Graduate Center. He holds an MA in philosophy from The New School for Social Research and a BA in sociology from UNC-Greensboro.

Over the past 15 years, he has been involved in hundreds of recordings as a producer, engineer, and mixer. He has worked with artists such as The Body, Chris Corsano, Ryley Walker, The Love Language, and Trioscapes. He is currently available for mobile location recordings, studio-based projects, and remote mixing.

He has taught courses in cultural theory and music production at Parsons School of Design and Borough of Manhattan Community College.

His current research focuses on the use and proliferation of magnetic tape in the twentieth century through music, technologies, raw materials, governmentality, and ethics.
